Finding our way to Freo

Ugliness. This is what happens when you board your plane, get comfortable and 20 mins later your pilot informs you that one of the engines won't start. It's worth noting that the airport near Exmouth only receives two flights per day.

For us it's not so bad, we don't have a connecting flight, and we don't have anything planned on arrival in Perth. Some folks on the flight had a fit though, hence the ugliness.

Long story short, our two hour flight took about seven hours, and as awesome as the airport is, I'm not allowed to take photos of it (military airport) so you'll just have to take my word for it. They managed to fit us on the second flight of the day though and we arrives in Perth just before dark.

After arrival, we made our way to Fremantle. A touristy town with a colonial feel, just south of Perth central.

Fremantle (or Freo for short) was a colonial town. It's home to an enormous prison (now a tourist attraction), and was also a port for shipping prisoners offshore to the penal colony. The town is littered with old colonial buildings. Below are a few photos from our walk after we finally arrived.

The Prison Yard

The bus stop across the street from us.

One of the many old stone buildings.

High street

Partially pedestrianized, many of the streets are tiny and have a European feel.
